Landvergnügen

A beloved app that had stopped working — and my job to lift it to a new level.

Landvergnügen is a labour of love: thousands of campers use it to stay overnight on farms, wineries and alpine pastures. But the app had stood still — technically, visually, in its thinking.

I was brought in to lift it to a new level. Not as someone who delivers screens, but as the person who answers for everything fitting together in the end: product, design, team and timeline.

The new app in motion — browse, save, drive there.

My responsibility

From the first workshop to the app store screenshot.

Product vision

“We need a new app” became a clear plan: what stays, what goes, what's coming. And why.

Design leadership

I set the design direction and held it — from the first workshop to the app store screenshot. If something wasn't good enough, that was my problem, not the intern's.

UX & UI

Every flow, every screen, every gesture: designed by me, built with the team. The user's journey was the benchmark — not the feature list.

Quality to the end

Design doesn't end at handoff. I stayed until it felt right — and the team could keep evolving it on their own.

Aufenthalte in der Landvergnügen App
Stays at a glance — the app replaces the thick printed guidebook.

How I worked

Closely with the Landvergnügen team, in short loops, always on the real product. First we understood the journey: browse, save, drive there. Then came the flows — booking, filters, gestures — and only at the end the polish. In that order, not the other way round.

Decisions were made on the device, not the projector: prototypes in the hand beat slides on the wall.

Gesten-Interaktion in der App
Gestures instead of menus — swipe, save, book.
Buchungsflow
Booking in three steps — without a single follow-up question.
Filter-UI
Filters that sound like a holiday — not like a database.
The guide flow in motion.
From discovering to saving — one swipe.
Hofdetails in der App
Close to the product: farm details the way you'd wish for them.
Landvergnügen Case Visual
From the farm to the route — all in one app.

What counts in the end

An app that feels like the product itself again: like a holiday.

And — just as important — a team that can now evolve it on their own. To me, carrying responsibility also means making yourself redundant.
